Hi all,
the idea to use Netidentity for own projects came up a couple of times in the
past; and also I asked Novell about that product, but couldnt get any info -
but I must admit that was in the very early days of Netidentity....
I have just again asked for some docu + API + headers so that we can write
our own Apache2 module for authentication, or also a php extension.
Now every voice counts - please everyone who wants to use Netidentity for own
projects PLEASE make a reply here to this post, and just add a "+1" or
whatever...
every voice counts!!

Yes, the SSO engine allows information to be stored within eDir
in such a way that it can be retrieved by an application within
the users logged in session, without other people being able to
access the information.

Netidentity is far more useful as it allows a remote web based
application to gain details about the user by querying the Client32
environment. Currently the only way for a third party to use this
feature is by deploying iChain.

I can guess the reason for Novell not having released the API,
unless they provide a solution for registering trusted applications
any old application could include the code to query and harvest
information.

Virtual office written in java

Virtual office uses netidentity

Native php code would be better, but I suppose someone could go and
wrapper the java code inside some php objects, and bada bing...

Hi,
I'm interested to know how people intend to use tne NetIdentity API.

My first guess is that a user could log in to an intranet without having
to authenticate so long as they are using Internet Explorer and they are
already authenticated to the network at a workstation.

Are there other uses?

Thanks,
Howard

exactly. In addition I hope that its _not_ coupled on IE but works with
every browser....

+1, thanks for the feedback.

The point on IE came from a documentation note here:
